The world is currently living through unprecedented times with an uncertain future.  Most days I am able to have mindset we can and will get through this, I and my family  are doing our part to ensure the best possible outcome, and most importantly we are  be grateful for everything we have including more time to spend together as a family.

But occasionally, there are the days that are just....well, dark.

I had one of those days this  week.  Everything was out of (my) control and the future just looked really bleak.  My husband says "I am not a bury your head in the sand kind of person."   I like to face problems head on and tackle them to the ground, but this problem is just too big.  And what this problem was revealing about our world, our leaders, our communities, and our future was dark and felt hopeless.

Rather than fight the dark and moody feelings I decided to embrace them with creativity.  My daughter was willing to model for a photo session (really, where else was she going to go?) We  decided to utilize and old Derby hat Mark wore years ago and play with the idea of a Film Noir inspired shoot channeling the hard boiled detective  characters like Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

We both had fun, enjoyed our time together, and enjoyed the results but most importantly we were laughing and smiling again.  We got back to a good place.

Mission accomplished.
